It started with a Mono Lite steering wheel...
It started with a kiss. Oh! No it didn't! It started with a Mono Lite steering wheel.
I'd always said I'd like to build a kit car. So, we'd gone to a kit car show and I saw a stand for Dax. That was it! Before I knew it, my wife had bought me the steering wheel and said, ‘now build the car around it!’
Got home from the show and started to research. But in those days, 2001, there was no Google. To make life easier I'd gathered a lot of literature from all the different Cobra stands at the show. I decided that Dax Tojeiro would be the one for me.
I went to the Dax premises at Harlow, Essex, and spoke to the director, who gave me a test drive in the demo car, and that was the deciding factor.
Due to personal circumstances, it took until 2009 to finish and pass 1st time, with flying colours, the 4 hour rigourous SVA test with flying colours. I was told that it had never been known! Passed the car after 2 hours.
The car I've built has a Chevy V8 350 small block engine. Twin roll bars and side exhausts.
I'm in the process of spraying the car myself! Weather permitting.
Looking forward to showing the car to you all and answering any questions on 2 and 3 of May.
